Cardinals are so pretty to paint and especially in winter scenes because of the beautiful contrast between their vibrant red in the winter white. This hand painted wood cookie was done in acrylics after the cookie was prepped with gesso. I started with a bright cerulean sky, and then added some snowy branches and topped them with the cardinal. I have sealed it with semi gloss varnish. It hangs from a sawtooth on back and measures 6 inches and it’s widest point.It would make a wonderful gift for nature, lovers, bird, lovers, or for yourself!
