This painting titled “Canyon Vista” was created in acrylic on a reclaimed, solid, oak wood kitchen cabinet door. Roland prepped the wood by cleaning and sanding it before presenting me with the canvas!. I applied gesso to the painted portion of the cabinet door and then freehand painted the vertical vignette of the mountains, foothills, river, trees, and canyon cliffs. It’s a challenge to get the scale of the composition correct with such a narrow painting surface but it turned out as l envisioned. I painted the outer edge in a blue-gray colour to frame the painting. This painting measures 31 x 12 inches and will have d-rings, wire, title and signing on back.
